REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS RUSSIA TOURIST VISA

Passport

Please send WPVS your current valid and signed passport. U.S passport must be valid 6 months beyond intended stay and must have at least one blank visa page.

Photo

Please send One recent professional passport-type photograph.
Digital and non-passport photographs are not acceptable.

Proof of Departure

Please send a copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.

Visa Support Ducoment

Copy of your ""VISA SUPPORT DOCUMENT "" for cruise or hotel confirmation from Russia. Please request the hotel/tour organization in Russia to fax you a copy of your hotel confirmation and hotel voucher (they should send you 2 sheets of paper, ""HOTEL CONFIRMATION"" on one and ""HOTEL VOUCHER"" on the other). This must contain a reference number as well as the dates of your stay in Russia. If you are staying in different hotels during your travel within Russia, you must provide confirmations and vouchers for all hotels. ***Visa will be valid only for dates listed on hotel confirmation and voucher***

Proof of Departure

Business Letter

A business letter of responsibility is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
Embassy of Russia, Visa Section, Washington DC
The letter must explain all of the following:
Nature of business to be performed
Name and address of reference to be visited
This letter should request Multiple Entries visa if required
Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit
The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

Invitation Letter

Original of government approved invitation from the Russian sponsor. Invite must be issued by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the city of your planned visit. This must contain the government seal and reference numbers. Invite will specify single, double or multiple entry.

You must complete the Online Order Form.

The order form gives WPVS your name, address, shipping information and payment method. Multiple applicants can be entered using one order form. You only need to complete one WPVS order form per request. Please print two copies of the confirmation page. Include one copy with the documents you ship to WPVS and keep one copy for your records. While completing the online order form in this step, you will be asked how you want to pay WPVS fees. You may pay our fees online with a credit card.

Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)

By connecting on the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, State Department will be able to assist you better in the case of an emergency, such as if you lose your passport or it is stolen while you are abroad.

U.S. citizens must always possess a valid U.S. passport and appropriate visas for travel to or transit through Russia, whether by train, car, ship, or airplane. It is impossible to obtain a Russian entry visa upon arrival. U.S. citizens transiting Russia en route to any other country are strongly advised to have transit visas. Visas are valid for specific purposes and dates.
